February is the month of love, so why not spend your time doing activities that you love around Middle Tennessee? This month is all about events that make people happy like the Antique & Garden Show, and Free Hike Day. So go out and find something you love to do this month– here are some ideas:
Happening now through March 5th, The Oaklands Mansion in Murfreesboro is hosting the Wedding Dresses Throughout the Decades exhibit. Come browse the gowns on display while discovering the lives of women in history. You can see each vintage gown from up to 100 years ago, along with a photo and story of the bride who wore it on her special day. Experience the changes in fashion and culture from decade to decade, leading to the modern day bride. Tickets are $10 each and the hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm.
Held at the Music City Center in Downtown Nashville from February 3rd-5th, The Antiques & Garden Show is now the longest-running, most respected and largest event of it’s kind in the US. This volunteer only, annual charity event raises money for Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and The Economic Club of Nashville (ECON) by exhibiting the highest quality landscaped gardens, high-quality antiques, and horticultural items through educational lectures and outreach programs. Tickets are $25, but can be bought in advance for $20 before January 30th.
Come out for a free, guided hike through Owl’s Hill near Cool Springs on February 11th. The hike will be approximately 2-3 miles with moderate hill climbs, and will start at 1:00pm. This is the perfect opportunity to get some exercise, spend time with friends and family, or even make new friends!
Come out to the Basement East on Sunday, February 12th from 12pm-3pm for the 2017 Nashville Chili Festival! Enjoy an abundance of chili tastings, live music, kid activities, a pepper eating contest and Yazoo beer. You may enter your own chili for $15 as an individual and $50 for businesses and bring 5 gallons full! Tickets are $20 for general admission or $40 for general admission plus Yazoo beer. All proceeds benefit a local non-profit, Community Shares.
